We are looking for the best agents in the industry with a passion for selling travel,
servicing clients and who want to be part of, contribute to, and share experiences
and knowledge with a family of like-minded travel professionals. We select each
Travel Counsellor only after a friendly and informative presentation so that you
can find out more about us and vice versa. You cannot just respond to an ad and
sign up. In the selection process here are some of the things we look for:
- You should currently be home-based or wish to be a home-based agent. This facilitates
the personalized client servicing that is the core of Travel Counsellors
- You agree to commit to your travel business as your full-time profession
- You should, within one year of being selected, be generating annualized sales of
$250,000 and, hopefully, a lot more but ultimately you set your business goals -
not us. We will act as a catalyst and empower you to realize your goals, but ultimately
whether you do that is up to you, after all it's your business
- We urge you to participate in our training program through which you will secure
both a CTC and an MCC certification
Are there costs to belonging?
There is a one-time $495 enrollment fee, which is currently being waived. And a
$75 monthly service fee after the first 6 months.
What services do you provide?
We provide a laptop and access to our proprietary, award-winning intranet site.
Through this site you have access to GDS and other airfares, our proprietary net
rate program, online cruise bookings and a wide selection of tour and package products.
To manage your client relationships we include a client management system which
also serves as a basis for your e-marketing activities. Your site also allows you
to keep track of all your sales and commissions. Of course, we also handle all of
your back office activities including vendor payments, ARC reporting etc.
What products are available?
To put it simply "everything you currently sell plus a lot more". We have
all major cruise lines and tour operators that cater to the US, Mexico, Canada,
the Caribbean and Europe, plus worldwide packages and tour products. While we believe
that "off the shelf" products fill some client needs, it is the ability
to create special programs either for couples or small groups that truly differentiates
the Travel Counsellor.
What is the time and financial commitment of the training?
When you are initially selected to be a Travel Counsellor you will be invited to
attend an in-depth training program. This training program will cover the company
and its culture, using the intranet site, Client Base Plus and how to make bookings
using our online booking capability. Transportation, accommodations, and most meals
are covered by us.
The training is usually at our Head Office in Saddle Brook, New Jersey and is for
two-three days. However if we have several agents in a specific region, we will come to
you.
How does the marketing program work?
We strongly believe in personal selling and the value of networking in your communities.
Through your personalized intranet site you can conduct your own e-marketing campaign. In addition
you can order, at cost, numerous support materials including postcards and banners
for consumer shows etc. You will also be able to do targeted mailings using products
from our supplier list or indeed using our own proprietary product, exclusively
to you. These targeted mailings are handled through the main office but only after
you have completed training on the featured product or destination.
Do you require exclusivity?
We are totally committed to your success. In return we expect the same level of
commitment and exclusivity from you. We can assure you that if you commit yourself
to being a Travel Counsellor, our philosophy and our customer driven list of suppliers
and products you will, over time, give yourself a better chance at creating a successful
business and the realization of your goals as you define them. You have our commitment
on that.
Can I choose my own hours?
Yes you can. The most important thing to us is that you devote enough time to the
development of your client base to give your business a solid foundation.
When do we get paid?
Commission is paid twice monthly on the 15th and the last day of the month and is deposited directly to your bank account.
